May 26 check presentation” for the TWO villages in Guatemala (Patzocom & Mocolic)  that will now benefit by having clean water & sinks, gray water filters and vented pit latrines as a result of the 11 District 7890 clubs and one from District 5100.

Mother’s Day Pancake Breakfast 2009

May 10, 2009 The Manchester Rotary Club held it’s annual Pancake Breakfast.  Proceeds from this event fund our many local and international projects.  We raised $5000.00.

Congratulations MHS Robotics Team

Last evening Taylor Niver and David Keeley of Manchester High School  provided our club with a demonstration of their latest masterpiece (that won them the state championship last month).  At the end of April the team will be heading off to Dallas for the World Championship.  The Robotics club is currently raising funds for their trip, if interested in making a donation please contact  paigeera@cox.net .

Rotary Reading Program

The Manchester Rotary Reading Program opened my eyes to the need for adult volunteers in our local elementary schools. I fell in love with Mrs. Malloy’s 4th graders at Washington School.

I appreciate the teachers and para staff that work with children from a very poor area in our town. The chidren need people who are interested in them. They are like little sponges!

The experience changed my life. My class had the opportunity to read a story written by a local teenager. MACC Charities purchased a book for each of the children and after they read the book, they got to meet the author. It was an amazing day for all.

One little girl told me “Mrs. Stafford, now I know I can be an author too!” I think we will be reading her book in the next few years.
